Alabama House Pro Tem Chris Pringle Issues Statement of Support for Helios Alliance

Alabama House Pro Tem Chris Pringle (R-Mobile) has endorsed The Helios Alliance methodology and the Alabama Opioid Abatement Model:

These drugs are having a huge impact across the State, and if my time in Montgomery has taught me anything, it is that it will take creativity and perseverance to really make a difference. There is only so much that can be done by a single entity, and that’s why this public-private partnership will be such a game changer for all of us that live in Alabama. I look forward to touting this example of what happens when like-minded and committed individuals and organizations come together to do some good to my colleagues in the Statehouse.

Pringle has long been an advocate on this important issue, as he has seen the impact the opioid epidemic has had on his community in Mobile and across the State of Alabama broadly. This can be seen by a bill he has championed for many years, legislating that a person who sells or gives away an illegal drug containing Fentanyl that causes the death of the user can be charged with manslaughter.

This bill passed the Alabama House of Representatives unanimously on February 22, and its intent is to focus on those dealing drugs, not those suffering from a substance use disorder.

More information on this bill can be found at AL.com and Alabama Daily News.
